A Legacy in
Every Grain of Wood
At Professional Furniture Finishing, furniture isn't just furniture—it's memory, artistry, and legacy. From our grandfather's humble workshop to today's prestigious New York Design Center, we've been reviving the soul of New York's finest furniture for generations.
A Family Legacy,
Carved Into the Grain of New York
Our story began with a newspaper ad and a dream. Paul Koppenheffer's grandfather arrived in New York City decades ago with nothing but a strong work ethic and a love for woodworking. Hired at a local workshop for just $1 an hour, he quickly proved his skill and dedication.
When the original business was sold, they offered him a small payout—or the workshop itself. He chose the legacy. That choice planted the roots of what would become Professional Furniture Finishing Company, Inc., a multigenerational institution of quality craftsmanship.
"When the original business was sold, they offered him a small payout—or the workshop itself. He chose the legacy."
Generations of Craftsmanship, One Piece at a Time
From that humble workshop to today's elite clientele, our company has been shaped by a deep respect for wood, finish, and form. Paul's father continued the legacy, building relationships with designers, showrooms, and private clients.
And now, with master finisher Tony—who's been with the company since Paul's grandfather's era—this timeless skill is practiced daily. We don't just fix furniture. We restore history, honor design, and bring heirlooms back to life.
